Physical therapy is a conservative, non-invasive form of medical treatment that addresses conditions that cause pain and affect a patient's ability to perform normal daily tasks or participate in recreational or sports activities. This includes acute conditions such as back pain, sprains, strains and fractures, as well as chronic conditions such as arthritis or tendonitis. In addition, patients often undergo physical therapy after joint replacements and reconstructive surgery.
Physical therapy services may only be delivered by licensed physical therapists and licensed physical therapist assistants. Visit www.apta.org for more information about physical therapy.

Physical therapy is a billable medical service covered by most medical insurance plans. Depending on your specific insurance policy, out of pocket costs can be highly variable. SMTC is always happy to check insurance benefits for you prior to your first appointment, or even if you are just considering seeking physical therapy treatment. We try to make whatever arrangements possible to make treatment affordable for you. Physical therapy can only be delivered by a licensed PT or PTA and should not be confused with personal training or sports performance training.
Personal training is a non-medical service, does not require a doctor's order (although it is a good idea to inform your doctor), and cannot be billed to your insurance. Visit our performance coaching section for more information on our certified training staff.
